Who I’m here for is everyone, but most importantly, that shy little dark skinned girl who sits in the back, covering her face, taunted by siblings, classmates or people on the streets who may tell her that her beauty will never amount to anything, nor will she. I know I’m not the best looking woman, but I know I can turn some heads. I’m here to tell her that I’m here to break barriers for her, she matters, and she’s my hero. Her life touches mine.
Sometimes you think you want to disappear, but all you really want is to be found.

They say the best way to see somebody is by not looking at them. When you look at them, they’ll always be on their best behavior.
I think something happened that night. It sounded like some weird sexual game. There was screaming and howling. It just sounded really weird and my son said he heard some kind of drum beating. She’s been quite low-profile and that’s why, when I heard these sounds - screaming - I thought it was unlike her.
I feel like I’m stuck here. That’s why I don’t give a fuck here. No luck here, nobody to trust here.
The less you talk, the more you’re listened to.
“There’s too much money here. Nobody should be hitting lotto for $36 million and we got people starving in the streets. That is not idealistic, that’s just real. […] There’s no way! There’s no way that these people should own planes and there are people that don’t have houses, apartments, shacks, drawers, pants! I know you’re rich, I know you got $40 billion, but can you can keep it to one house? You only need one house. And if you only got two kids, can you just keep it two rooms? Why have 52 rooms and you know there’s somebody with no room! It just don’t make sense to me.”
If ‘Pac had been able to live to 40, he would have left music alone. He’d be a serious actor and an activist. He was for the people. Fuck all that thug shit. He didn’t invent “thug”. He would have matured and stepped into his true calling. I’m no psychic (just a lil’ bit of an empath), but I’m sure of what I’m saying here. Whatever elemental compounds killed Tupac Shakur is what killed our “new black leaders”. That’s why we’re like a chicken w/its head cut off now.
Just like those “Freakanomics” dudes tied the legalization of abortion to the drop in crime in the 90s, I tie “crack wars” of the 80s and 90s to our lack of community leadership today.
